Hello, my kinky friends! I'm here to share an important update on what has been going on with us. I know I made a brief statement before, but I needed to take some personal time to process and prepare before sharing a more detailed update on where we're going from here and what you can expect from us.
The Difficult Decision to Close the Lair
The big, sad news is that the lair is officially closed, and we have no immediate plans to open a new one soon. This was a long, drawn-out process that spanned about three or four months, with many attempts to try and salvage the situation but, ultimately it was the best and hard decision to close The Lair. For a snapshot of what happened: We were having issues with our new property managers, including talks of renegotiating contracts and raising the rent. I was also bringing up maintenance concerns like building leaks, but despite providing documentation, video, and photos, the property managers didn't think it was an issue.
A major issue arose when a new tenant, a smash room business, moved in next to us. As amusing as the coincidence might sound (“a smash room next to a room where people also go to smash”), the reality wasn’t so funny. The noise and vibrations disrupted everything from our BDSM parties to Dungeons & Dragons nights.
The final nail in the coffin was being served notice that our rent would effectively double in three weeks. At that point, I was losing business because the vibrating walls made it impossible to establish the safe, intimate mindset we had spent years creating. So at that point I didnt have many options. Losing the lair was deeply emotional. It wasn't just a business space; it was our community hub, especially during the early days of COVID. It was our first permanent space, a place for education, a safe space to be who we are, and we lost that.
Looking Forward to 2026: Events are Coming Back!
Thankfully, I am now ready to move forward. I know many of you are asking about our big events like the Midnight at Dawn Expo and the Midnight Cabaret. While I hoped to bring back the Cabaret this fall, the process of shutting down the lair required too much time and resource management.
The great news is we are looking at bringing both the Expo and the Cabaret back in 2026.
We are already scouting new locations and venues that are interested in hosting us.
We're continuing to look at more performers for exciting new acts.
We are changing the style of the Expo to make it a little easier, so it won't require a full year to get up and running.
I will be releasing more details as we sort everything out, and I am truly looking forward to having these big parties and seeing you all soon.
The Remainder of 2025: Building Our Online Platform
So, what are we doing for the rest of 2025 now that the lair is closed? We are focused on building our online presence and continuing education:
Online Activity: I will be much more active on my YouTube channel and social media, sharing updates, insights, and education based on what the community is interested in seeing.
Continuing Workshops: Our workshops, which were a huge success and sold out when we partnered with "Witches and Weirdos," will continue at a few different locations. We are looking to expand beyond our Shibari 101 to include sensation and impact play seminars this year, along with other relevant topics.
New Products: We will be releasing new, accessible, and affordable introductory products to help people get started in the lifestyle. This is to bridge the gap that often occurs when people get excited about a demo but don't have the equipment at home to continue practicing. More information on this will be released on our website soon.
Premium Members Area: We are creating a premium platform to centralize the education from our workshops and demos without worrying about censorship.
This next stage is about creating a platform to support our community even when you're not at an event—when you're at home, trying to learn, and forming those habits that become a lifestyle.
Let's Build This Future Together
Thank you to everyone who came out, who shared an amazing story, learned something, laughed, cried, and so much more. We had something special, and I will never forget that.
I want to know what matters to you. Please leave a comment, follow us on social media, and keep an eye out for polls asking your opinion on what we should be creating next. I want to ensure the content and updates are driven by the community, for the community.
Take care, and I’ll see you next time!
